Fisher House

Support Fisher House – help make a home from home.

When a loved one is in hospital, your instinct is to drop everything to be there for them.

But what if they’re nowhere near home? Hotels, flights, food … it all adds up. Sometimes it’s just not possible to visit, let alone hold your loved one’s hand through surgery or treatment.

This is the predicament that so many military families face. Military or VA medical centres are frequently a great distance away.

This is why Fisher House Foundation was founded.

The Foundation gives military families a “home away from home” when relatives are receiving treatment; providing free lodging for those who couldn’t otherwise afford to be there.

Since inception, Fisher House has provided 277,000 grateful families with $320 million worth of out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

For residents such as 29-year-old Army recruiter Andrea Means of Chandler, the service is invaluable:

“My experience has been amazing,” She says. “My kids feel like they’re at home. It’s helpful, because right now my husband can’t work right now. So being here has helped us financially.”

The Foundation also runs a number of other crucial programs and grants for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans. These programs are a lifeline for many families and help to ensure that our service members are able to serve.
