Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund
Support the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund – help the men and women of the armed forces and their families.
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a non-profit organization established in 2000, is focused on veterans issues including caring for the physical and psychological needs of our injured veterans. Since its inception, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund has provided nearly $200 million in services and support for veterans, military members and their families.
Today the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund assists military personnel suffering the effects of traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions through their series of facilities, called “Intrepid Spirit” centers, in which these injuries can be diagnosed and treated. These centers offer critical care for veterans who are dealing with any and all symptoms brought on by traumatic brain injury, and they bring these services closer to where America’s veterans live and work. Intrepid Spirit centers are already demonstrating their potential for positive outcomes and success, and they continue to offer knowledge, resources, and hope for both servicemembers and athletes who have suffered some level of TBI.
While these valuable and crucial services are a primary focus for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, they organization does so much more. The first five years after the organization’s founding were also dedicated to providing family support grants to spouses, children, and parents of fallen soldiers. Due in part to the grants that IFHF provided, as well as communication efforts raising awareness about this issue, federal legislation introduced in 2005 increased the benefits that were provided to the families of those lost in battle. The success of the grant program and the introduction of this additional federal relief allowed IFHF to pursue other paths for helping veterans and active duty military.
Staying at the forefront of medical research and treatment options is critical to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund’s mission. The National Intrepid Center of Excellence, located near the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, allows the IFHF to do just that. The National Intrepid Center of Excellence provides everything from treatment plans and family educational resources to therapeutic options and referrals. Advanced diagnostics and ongoing care, both in person and remotely, give America’s veterans the care they need while incorporating new information and research for the best results.
